How do I add images to my Directory listing?

Having high-quality photos to showcase your business is crucial for the success of any Directory listing.

Why are images so important?

Business listings with high-quality images receive significantly more enquiries than those without photos, with poor-quality images, or using generic stock photos.

When potential customers can see attractive, authentic pictures of products, services, and team members, it builds instant trust and confidence. In a competitive market, professional images that showcase a business at its best can be the deciding factor that converts browsers into paying customers.

Think of it this way: North Shore Mums readers are scrolling through dozens of business listings. Eye-catching, professional photos make listings stand out, hold attention longer, and give customers a genuine feel for what to expect. Authentic images show that a business takes pride in its presentation and cares about the customer experience – and that makes all the difference.

How many images can I upload?

You are entitled to up to 5 images with a Silver listing and 10 images with a Gold listing, so make sure you use them all.

What are the dimensions?

  • Orientation: Images that are landscape (horizontal) rather than portrait (vertical) in orientation look best in the slideshow.
  • Dimensions: 600 pixels (wide) x 400 pixels (high)
  • Format: JPG
  • Size: Under 200kb.
  • File name: Use your business name (e.g., Business-Name-01.jpg) with no special characters like $#@&*

What images should I choose?

High-quality photos are the hero of any business listing – they bring products and services to life and help potential customers visualise what to expect.

Consider including:

  • Team photos – Professional headshots or candid shots of staff in action help customers connect with the people behind the business
  • Your space – Showcase reception areas, waiting rooms, consulting rooms, treatment spaces, or studio environments so customers know what to expect when they visit
  • Products – Clear, well-lit images of products for sale, whether that's retail items, handmade goods, or finished work
  • Your work in action – Show services being delivered, classes in progress, or before-and-after results
  • Credentials – Display awards, certifications, or qualifications that build credibility
  • Your logo – A high-resolution version of the business logo for instant brand recognition

Choose images that are clear, well-lit, and authentic to the business. Real photos always perform better than generic stock images.

Why didn't my images upload to my Directory?

It's probably because:

  • They were too large, and the system rejected them > Resize to under 200kb
  • They were named with special characters > Rename to Letters and Numbers only
  • They were the wrong file type > Resave as a JPG.
